In this rainy autumn it is impossible for our shoes to don’t make a mess in front the door. I am presenting you a convenient and also good looking way to solve this wet problem! And keep you home clean and neat.
All you need:
> Tray or cardboard box
> Silicon dinner mat
> Different (decorative) stones
> Glue and scissors
1. If you have an old or cheap tray at home you can easily reuse it. But if you don’t you can use a cardboard box as I did.
2. Cut the box to good size. I cut mine to 4 cm. You can use scissors or x-acto knife for this step. If you want you can also paint the box/tray.
3. Put your mat in your tray or box and see if it fits. You may need cut some excess. Your mat should be silicon so it doesn’t soak up the water and also to don’t have any holes in it.
Quick tip —> Choose suitable colour for the mat like white, brown, gray and black.
4. Choose the stones you are going to use. You can buy them or collect some from a river or seaside. Search for more flat stones so they can fit in the tray.
5. Start arranging and gluing them on your mat. I use three different sizes and colours. I put some big black stones, some smaller pebbles and some really small ones to fill the gaps.
6. When everything is dry and ready put the mat in your tray. That way when you put your wet shoes there, the tray will collect the water, which you can easily remove later on.
