Case for external HDD

This September I am moving to university for the first year. This is why I am searching for tricks and useful things that could help me in transporting my luggage. For me the most important are technical devices. Thinking about that I realized that I have not got a case for my portable hard drive.

All you need:
> Foam paper
> Thread and needle
> Bubble wrap
> Double sided tape

1. Start by folding the foam paper in two and figure out if your external HDD, or similar, will fit. They are usually small, so it should be a problem. I chose a foam paper because it is soft and will perform better in possible accidents.

2. Then mark the sizes of your pocket. I also leave a space for my cable. Then Cut two pieces from the bubble wrap with the same measurements. That way  the HDD will be protected even more.

3. Cut out pieces of the double sided tape and stick the bubble wrap with them. I have tried a lot of glues and I can say that double sided tape works best for this case.

4. Pres well the bubble wrap so it sticks well in place.

5. Then fold the foam paper and make a stich on the edge. I chose a matching thread colour with my portable HDD. And again – I am not good at sewing. The important part is that I don’t give up and keep trying!

6. Then put the HDD inside and mark where the pocket should end.

7. Make a border for the pocket with stich. I used backward stich, or .. I tried :D. Use one that could make a straight line.

8. Finally, close the other edge like the first one. That way you will finish the case and make a pocket for your cable.

9. I also decorate the case. Acrylics stays well on foam paper. Also you can stick something on stich a clothe patch . And you are done!
