In this post I show you an easy summer decoration. I was inspired by all of these sea glass object for home decoration and decided to make my own summer bottle. I chose to be blue not only because it is the colour of sea but also because it contrast very well with the warm interior colours of my home.
All you need:
> Glass bottle or jar
> Acrylic paint
> White glue
> Decorative materials
1. Clean up very well your bottle. Always start with a clean canvas. This gives you the best results.
2. To make it more interesting I cut out a sea star from a contact paper and stick it on the bottle. That way when the bottle is painted there will be a clear window in sea star shape. Link
3. Mix the white glue and the paint. At my first attempt I put too much glue and the paint just pealed off from the bottle. For that reason put more colour and less glue! And when I was redoing it I add a little green to the blue.
4. Start painting the bottle. You can use a sponge and pressing motions for more even finish. However, I opt for big brush and that way I get more texture.
5. Leave the paint to dry. At that point I removed my starfish sticker.
Quick tip —> Use x-acto knife and cut the edges of the sticker to remove it more evenly.
6. Finally, I added some twine to the bottle neck and around the sea star shape. Decorate however you want and you are done!
