Star Christmas card

With this post I am giving the start of my blog series of DIY Christmas cards. A handmade card is the perfect addition of every present and complete the whole idea of the gesture. This card is a compilation of different textures and shapes and the best part is that you can make a second card from its excess.

All you need:
> A cardstock for the base
> Different types of paper and textures
> Ruler, scissors, glue

1. Your very first step in creating a card is to choose your materials and colour palette. In this case you need few different types of paper. For example I’m using normal cardstock, metallic paper, glitter foam paper and texturized foam paper.

2. Start by making the base. For that figure out the dimensions of your card and double it. Cut it out from the cardstock.

3. Then make a line with the scissors right in the middle using the ruler for a guide line.

4. Then fold the paper at this line. This step helps with folding thicker paper and creating neat edges.

5. From two types of paper, cut out stripes with different thickness and height. All of them together should fit in the card.

6. Start arranging them on the card base. I move them around few times, playing with their high.

7. My final layout was placing them on the same line but you should find your one, depending on your style and preferences.

8. Now, move on making the stars. From two types of paper cut out one big and one smaller star.

9. To be more interesting swap the smaller stars. To complete everything, cut out one stripe from each of both paper types. The thickness depends on you, the length should match the card one.

10. Arrange the stars on the stripes the way you want on the stripes. You can add how many starts in different sizes you would like to .

11. To bring everything together, arrange the parts on the card base and glue them on.

12. For the text inside you can glue on a white piece of paper so it could stand out better. And you are done!

13. Don’t forget to keep all of the excess of the beautiful papers so you could make the second card.
