Scretch world map

This DIY project is inspired by  summer, travel and adventures. The idea is that you have a world map and you scretch all the places and countries you have been to. When you scretch the land there appears a colourful spot.  The goal is to make your map all colourful!

All you need:
> A3 cardboard
> World map template
> Paint
> Metallic paint
> Dish soap
> Clear tape

1. Find or print your world map including all the countries. If you have the opportunity print the map directly on the A3 sheet.

2. If you can not do that, simply print the world map in two A4 pieces. Then trace is out the cardboard. I did that using my favorite method. I colour with pencil the whole back of my image, then flip it and put it in place over the cardboard. Then trace out all the lines. That way the image will transfer to the cardboard.

3. Then outline the continents using black paint or marker. I recommend to use acrylic or tempera paint. By outlining the continents it will be more easy to paint later on.

4. Then paint the whole ocean part in black.

5. Paint with different colours the countries and different lands and islands.

6. Put pieces of the tape over the continents and all the colorful areas.

7. Finally, mix 2 parts metallic paint and 1 part dish soap and paint over the tape.

8. You may need two or three coats of paint. And you are done!
